DANNEMORA-Hortense Albina Peryea, 86, passed away on Wednesday, Dec.7,2005, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Altona on Feb. 7, 1919, daughter of the late Phillip and Clara (Peete) Patnode.

Hortense had been employed as a chambermaid with Sun and Sand Motel, CVPH Medical Center Housekeeping Department and PSUC Housekeeping Department. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora and a former member of Catholic Daughters of America. Hortense enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family.

Hortense is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bernard "Pat" Peryea of Dannemora; three children, Patricia Couture and her husband Clement of Dannemora, Elaine Miller and her husband Howard of Ellenburg and Phyllis Peryea of Thomasville, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, Ann Marie Petrashune and her husband Peter, Stephen Couture and his wife Amy, Laurie Jean Couture and her companion Mike Holmes, Michael Miller, Mark Miller and his fiancee Melanie, Jason Miller and his fiancee Beth, Christi Cooper, Ralph Cooper, Suzette Couture Inman, Adam Couture; 15 great grandchildren, Adam Petrashune, Karen Petrashune, Austin Petrashune, Kristen Petrashune, Dylan Miller, Zachary Miller, Ethan Miller, Joshua Cooper, Brandon Couture, Cory Couture, Kameron Couture, Ashley Miller, Cierra Miller, Christina Miller, Bradley Miller; a great great grandchild, Jordon Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

Hortense was predeceased by her parents, Clara and Phillip Patnode; three brothers, Frank Patnode, William Patnode, Edward Patnode; three sisters, Mae Patnode, Rose Gardner and Ida Surprenant.

Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec.10, 2005, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will be next year in the parish cemetery.

Donations in Hortense's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country and Dannemora Volunteer Fire Department.
