Isabell Rutan Pettit, 91, of Holbrook, died unexpectedly at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

Mrs. Pettit was born March 5, 1923, in Morris Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Harry Melvin and Nellie Hazel Miller Rutan.

She was a resident of Center Township since 1944.

She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Holbrook.

Mrs. Pettit enjoyed needlepoint and assisted her late husband in farming.

On March 15, 1941, she married James Hartley Pettit, who died April 3, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter, four sons, 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, a brother, of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; eight brothers, James, Ellsworth, Harry, Thomas, John, Hershel, Carl and Wilbur Rutan; and two sisters, Frances Anderson and Margaret Toland.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5.

Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.
