Mabel I. Pohlman, age 95, of 2130 Harrison, Quincy, and formerly of Beardstown, IL died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 1:15 am in the Good Samaritan Home.

She was born May 6, 1907 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Otto and Anna Horeis Holm. On June 14, 1932, she married Carl S. Pohlman in St. James Lutheran Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death March 9, 1971.

She was a 1925 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of Western Illinois State Teachers College. She retired in 1967 after teaching 5 years at Franklin School in Quincy and 20 years in Beardstown.

Mrs. Pohlman was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Women's City Club and Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary. She is survived by her nephew, David L. VanDoorn, Sr., Ft. Wayne, IN; her great nephew, David L. VanDoorn, Jr., Quincy and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister Marian VanDoorn.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 4, 2003 at 1:30 pm in St. James Lutheran Church, Rev. Marlin R. Rempfer officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 -5:30 pm at the Hansen Spear funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. James Lutheran Church or Good Samaritan Home. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
