Funeral service for Albert L. Armstrong of Adel, was held at the United Methodist Church, Adel, on Monday, August 23 at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Armstrong, a widely know and respected resident, passed away at the Dexter Clinic Hospital on Friday, August 20, after several months of ill health. He was 86 years old.
He was born at Stuart and spent his boyhood there. After his marriage to Amy Black in 1909, he farmed in Madison County until they moved to Dexter where he was a livestock buyer. In 1943 they moved to Adel and in 1951, Mrs. Armstrong was taken by death. He was married to Sue Forrester in 1953.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and served as a council member and mayor of both Dexter and Adel. He was a member of the Earlham baseball team for many years and was an ardent fisherman and hunter and active in the Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife Sue; his daughter Juanita Crawford of Earlham; two sisters Nora Jensen and Lucile Lewis, both of De Soto.
