Monday Rites For Victim Of Auto Collision
Funeral services for Norman Lee Swain, 49-year-old Trinidad plumber, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the First Baptist church in Trinidad with burial in Trinidad cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. Vernon H. Roberson, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Hollis Flarety, pastor of the Trinidad Methodist church. Swain was the driver of one of the cars that figured in a collision one mile west of Dawson on State Highway 31 Friday at 3 p.m. when Swain and Mrs. Cecil Thomas of Tyler were fatally injured. He was dead on the site and his death was ruled "accidental' by Wayne Allard, Dawson justice of the peace, after a coroner's investigation. Mrs. Thomas was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial hospital in a Eubanks ambulance. Clarice Dukeminier, 19, Route 4, Tyler, was sreiously Injured in the accident and is a patient in Memorial hospital, She was with Mrs. Thomas and they were traveling west. Swain was traveling east. Both vehicles were demolished and the car in which the women were riding was burned following the smashup. Both women were thrown from the car.
Vernon Crook, state highway patrolman, investigated. Surviving Swain are his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis L Swain, Trinidad, the other relatives. Pallbearers were T. L. Chiles, Kenneth May, Alvin Lee May, Meryl Bradley, Harden Airhart and Johnny Airheart. Griffin directed.
