Ruth was said to have helped during the Revolutionary War, though born just after it started. See the attached article from the Nov. 1962 issue of the DAR magazine. Although the writer had her parents and husband correct, the story actually was about her 1st cousin, Ruth Davidson, daughter of Samuel Davidson, this Ruth's father's twin brother.
