Per records Burrell died at White Hall General Hospital in Bristol, PA and was buried in the local cemetery. In the 1880s when Philadelphia National Cemetery expanded, the soldiers buried there were moved there. He is on the list of those moved there. and has a tombstone.

The grave stone next to that of Vernon D. Gunn is probably that of his brother Burrell G. Gunn who died in G. H. White Hall, Montour Co., Pennsylvania in the Civil War on 24 August 1864. He was first buried in the National Cemetery in Philadelphia and later moved to his family plot in Michigan.
