HYDE NATIVE DIES IN WASHINGTON HOSPITAL - Elijah P. HUDSON, 73, native of Hyde County, well known resident of Old Ford, Beaufort County, died in a Washington hospital last Monday, January 11, following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Hudson was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Hudson of Hyde County. He went to Beaufort County 25 years ago and for the past several years had lived at Old Ford where he had many farming interests. Surviving are four sons: George Hudson of Washington, Winfred Hudson of the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Butner, Sam Hudson and Joe Hudson of Chocowinity; three daughters: Mrs. W.V. Alligood (Mary), Mrs. Floyd B. Taylor (Alice) and Mrs. R.C. Jernigan (Dorothy), all of Washington; one brother, J.B. Hudson of Pantego; and one sister, Miss Annie Hudson of near Washington. Funeral services were held from the late residence Wednesday at 2 o'clock with the Rev. M.L. Ambrose, pastor of the Old Ford Christian Church, officiating.
