In his book "Ellis and Related Families" Isaaac Barnett Ellis wrote: "George and Phebe had one son, who died in infancy, and it is understood that they adopted a Jack Evans though he never came to visit them in later years. They lived five miles east of Lamar, Missouri for many years then traded the farm for a home in Lamar, 500 East Tenth St., about 1940. They were a precious couple and celebated their 52nd with relatives and friends. (It was their 56th that they celebrated last.) Phebe was a wonderful person, kind loving and a great worker. Her gardens, and her home, her quilting, all testified to the statement. George and Phebe bought a lot at Lake Cemetery on Highway 71 west of Lamar for their burial. "
Phebe (McNeece) Ellis died at the age of 105.
