Revolutionary soldier in his 79th year.

Youngest of 9 children. Married Annie Chase and settled in Vershire, VT. Came to Lisbon from Vershire in March 1809, and lived the rest of life there.
Lemuel died at home of son, Ezra. Buried beside wife in Salmon Hole Cemetary. He was a Revolutionary War soldier from Chelmsford (see Mass. Rev. Rolls)

Lemuel Barrett, (1761-1842), enlisted 1780 under Capt. Joseph Emerson and was discharged 1781. He also served as a substitute for his father. He applied for a pension 1833 as did also his widow 1843 and it was allowed for nine months' actual service as private, Mass. line. He was born in Chelmford, Mass.; died in Lisbon, N. H.

Lemuel Barret a resident of Lisbon aged 71 years...enlisted about the 2 July 1780 at Chelmsford, Mass under Captain JosephEmerson... discharged at West Point about 2 Jan 1781. I lost my discharge about 48 years ago. I also served as a substitute of my father Benjamin Barrett 3 months in the year 1779. My father enlisted at Chelmsford in Captain Pollards Company..August 1779... discharged sometime in Nov 1779...I was born in the town of Chelmsford Mass Oct 12 1761 my birth is recorded in the town records of Vershire, VT my discharge was signed by Colonel Jackson - signed by Lemuel Barritt.
