I was trying to remember the stories I heard about you and birds. I remember when I was very little you had a bird in a cage in your windowsill. My fuzzy memory tells me it was a goldfinch. I wanted to hold the bird so you opened the bird cage and the bird hopped right onto your finger. You told me to hold out my finger and stand still and the bird hopped onto my finger. Then it pooped on me. I was so upset. You cleaned off my hand and told me you gave it some grapes that probably made it loose, trying to make me feel better. Somehow you had magic with birds. They would land on your windowsill as if they knew you would help them. You would help heal them then release them back into the wild.

I was thinking about you today. I remember how I would ride my bike over to your house because I wanted you to teach me how to tat. I would arrive hot and sweaty from the bike ride but you never said anything. I managed to make a few small doilies but that was all. I always admired your doilies. They were so evenly stitched and would lay so perfectly flat. I still have my tatting shuttle from way long ago and some patterns. Maybe in my retirement years I will try again. It was nice to spend that time with you. I now have some special memories of spending time with you.

The many friends of Edward Clements and Miss Edna Anderson both of the Falls location will be surprised to learn of their marriage at Iron Mountain yesterday. The young couple will make Crystal Falls their home as the groom is employed here with Osterberg & Co.
