Nelda Jean Beck, 71, of Irving, died August 24 2003. Born September 27, 1931 in Pilot Point, TX., she received her Masters Degree from T.C.U. and was the Director of Nursing at Irving Hospital for more than fifteen years.
Survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jewelene and Walter Barnett; nephew, Leslie W. Barnett, wife Roma Dee and great niece Gail Denise Barnett; niece, Rebecca A. Penney, husband Perry and great niece Lori Beth Penney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Viola Vines Beck.
Services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Rusty Hedges officiating. Graveside services at 3:00 p.m. at Pilot Point Community Cemetery.

Nelda Jean Beck was the charge nurse on duty at Parkland Hospital emergency room on November 22, 1963. She later received a formal note of gratitude from Governor John Connally's wife, Nellie, for her calm and efficient handling of the chaos of that day. She was later portrayed as a major character in the film, Parkland (2013).
