Larry Gene Cassady, age 58, quietly passed away in the loving arms of his family at Hillcrest Regional Medical Center in Tulsa on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, after a short battle with cancer. Loving husband of 32 years of Ruby Wheeler Cassady of Blackwell; beloved father of George Cassady Cheney and April Hastings of Medord, Jeremy Cassady and Noel Ailey of Ponca City, Billy Cassady and Crystal of Blackwell, Meilissa Cassady Jenkins and Mitch Nichols of Blackwell, beloved brother of Dennis Edward Cassady and Marjorie of Bartlesville, and Dave Cassady and Chris Schaefer of Shawnee; proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; loyal uncle, cousin, and friend to many that will miss him dearly.
Preceded in death by his mother, Elma Peek Cassady; twin brother, Terry Dean; and sister, Paula Jean.
Larry was born on April 22, 1953, in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High school in 1972. He retired from Southwest Cupid as a maintenance mechanic due to poor health conditions. Larry loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could always fill a room with laughter and will be greatly missed, forever in our hearts.
A memorial service will be Thursday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church, 6th and Oklahoma, in Blackwell. Special thanks to the caring staff of Grace Hospice in Tulsa.
