Charles J. "Jeff" Akers, 51, of Salem, Indiana, formerly of Scottsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on September 19, 1960 in Seymour, Indiana, the son of the late Charles Gordon Akers and Bernadene (Vires) Niewedde, who survives.

Jeff was an employee of Net Shape in Campbellsburg, Indiana, also a former employee of the old American Steel Cord, K - Cord and the old Bowater Company.

Survivors include two daughters, Danielle Campbell of Scottsburg, Indiana and Hope Frank of Seymour, Indiana; a son, Joshua Akers of New Albany, Indiana; his mother & stepfather, Bernadene & Fred Niewedde of Crothersville, Indiana; three sisters, Pam Akers-Campbell of Crothersville, Indiana, Nena Akers-Elam (Donnie) and Shelly Barrett both of Scottsburg, Indiana and three grandsons, Dominic Akers, Jaiden & Ethan Campbell.
