B. Harry Goodman, born to Joseph and Annie McRae Goodman on November 11, 1915 in St. David, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2011. Harry is the next-to youngest of 12 siblings who have precede him in death.

He is survived by his beloved wife Rita Allred of 72 years and children Katrina Willis (Chad), Steven (Cindy), Dale (Nedra) and Jim (Diane); 21 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Harry met Rita at Arizona State Teachers College (NAU) and they married on November 25, 1939. They received their B.A. degrees in Education and Harry later earned his M.A. degree from ASU. He developed a life-time love of baseball in his youth in St. David where he played school and semi-pro ball, eventually catching the attention of professional baseball scouts. His love of sports extended into his adult life when he coached at schools in Safford, Fort Thomas, Chandler, Maricopa, Mesa High and then as the varsity baseball coach at Westwood High School from 1962-1971. He taught mathematics and history for over forty years. Countless of his students would later say that he was their favorite teacher.
He never lost his life-long love of the soil. After selling his beloved farm he turned to gardening and generously furnished neighbors from the abundance of his vegetable garden.

Harry served a 30-month LDS mission in the North Central States Mission (1935-37). Later, he and Rita served together and helped open the new temple in Santiago, Chile. As a young boy, he served a temple-building mission with his family where they helped construct the Mesa Temple and his love for that temple continued to grow; he later served as an ordained ordinance worker there for 25 years. He has blessed the lives of many of his grandchildren by performing sealings and other eternal temple ordinances for them. He faithfully served for years in the Bishopric of the Mesa 6th Ward and the East Mesa Stake High Council. He loved and faithfully read his Book of Mormon.
