Son of Wesley J. Beers and Amelia Ryman Beers. He was married to Nettie Mae Loy. They were the parents of a daughter, Ruth Beers. At the time of the 1920 Census he was an inmate at the Colorado State Penitentiary.

Beers was accused of swindling investors in the Ozark Industrial Training School Corporation when he was the head of that Adventist institution (His father-in-law was a Seventh Day Adventist minister). He was shot and murdered by a young man named Arlie E. Grant in retribution.

According to his death certificate he was buried in Mt. Zion cemetery; however, his grave apparently has no headstone.
