Mrs. Libby Jean Bailey Sheriff, 85, of 104 Seminole Drive, Toccoa, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, in Hart County.
A daughter of the late Thomas Jeptha and Lula Mae Chastain Bailey, she was born May 29, 1926, in Hart County, having lived most of her life in Toccoa. She was co-owner of Sheriff's Best Buy grocery store for many years. She was a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church and attended Tom's Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Charles Sheriff of the home; brother and sister-in-law, Jep and Mary Bailey of Hartwell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene and Bill Jarrett and Ostene and Mel Walters, both of Hartwell and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Colleen Mabry, Lee Wanek and Avree Kotal.
A private family service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home in Toccoa with the Rev. Wayne Marcus and the Rev. Jason DeFoor officiating. Entombment followed in Stephens Memorial Mausoleum with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
