Born August 24, 1949, in Galesburg to Edward and Bernie Carlson Schenck Sr., he married Paula Cuba on September 9, 1937, in Abingdon. She survives.
Also, surviving are his parents of Abingdon; one son, Steve, at home; one daughter, Sarah Schenck, at home; his grandmother. Blossom Lind of Galesburg; two brothers, Ed Schenck Jr. of Abingdon and the Rev. Daniel Schenck of Poplar Grove; one sister, Mrs. Rick (Jeanie) Hanna of Abingdon; and nieces and nephews.
He attended a mechanics trade school in Omaha, Neb., for one year. He worked as a mechanic, and later as part room manager, at Galesburg Lincoln Mercury. He later began working for Ed's Petroleum Products Inc. in Abingdon in 1975 and was the owner at the time of his death. He also was a licensed pilot.
He served on the Fall Festival Committee for Livestock Sales. He was a member of the Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association.
A member of Abingdon United Methodist Church, he was a former trustee and past chairman of trustees.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at his church. The Rev. George Terry will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Burial will be at Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Sarah and Steve Schenck Education Fund established at Tompkins State Bank in Abingdon or any charity.
