Howard Crockett born July 21,1922 in Lovington, New Mexico, passed away in Palm Desert, Ca on Dec. 9, 2011.
Howard was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years Dixie Crockett & son Richard Crockett. Howard is survived by his wife Noella Crockett, daughter Susan and husband Gregg, Reid, 3 grandchildren Megan and Husband Rick Stubblebine, Jason Silvis Jeremy Silvis, three sisters, Mary & Husband Curtis House, Marjorie Hanson, and Catherine Leggitt.
Howard entered New Mexico teaching College on a football scholarship in 1940-1943 entered U.S.Navy Flight training 1946 returned to college 1946 to 1948 completed BS degree & M.A. degree in eastern N.M. Univ. 1952-1954 recalled to active duty 1954 returned to teach & coach he taught and coached football in California until 1979 and retired.
1982 he retired from the navy as LCDR-USNR Howard served his country for a total of 39 years and will have a Military funeral and laid to rest next to his wife Dixie in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Ca, in lieu of flowers, Howards favorite Charity is wounded warrior project 4899 Belford Road Suite 300 Jacksonville, Florida, 32256. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00am, Wiefels Chapel. 690 S. Vella Rd. Palm Springs, California. Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 Riverside National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
