Argenia P. O'Neil, age 89, of Winfield, passed away December 14, 2011 at Cumbernauld Village. Services are Saturday, December 17, 2011, 10:30 a.m.at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2011; 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a social in Fellowship Hall at the church from 9:30 a.m. to service time, on Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery. Memorials are to Harry Hynes Hospice and First United Methodist Church.
She was born May 15, 1922 to Walter and Laura (Johnson) Christensen, in Buena Vista County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area graduating from Spencer High School in Spencer, Iowa in 1940.
Argenia was first married in 1941 to Harley S. Wedgebury. He died in 1945 during a battle in the European Theater. She married Merle O'Neil in 1948, in Laurens, Iowa. He passed away February 14, 1994.
Merle and Argenia moved to Winfield in 1948 where she worked as a Administrative Asst. for the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance office.
She was a member of Merry Makers and Chapter FD of P.E.O. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the Choir for 60 years, and also served as Sunday School Secretary.
She is survived by one son, daughters, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
