CHESTER -- Wolter H. Welge, 78, of Chester, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at his residence.

He was born to the late Henry J. and Louise (nee Wolter) Welge on March 7, 1933, in Chester.

He married Evangeline Bahr on June 23, 1957, in Chester; she survives.

Mr. Welge was a Therapy Aide at Chester Mental Health from 1961 to 1992.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Chester, and was a counter for the Sunday offering for many years.

Mr. Welge was an Army Veteran and a life-time member of the American Legion Post 487 in Chester.

He was an avid sports fan and loved fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Evangeline Welge of Chester; two daughters, Vickie (Tom) Kertz of Perryville, Mo., Lori (Ivan) Bost of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Melba Camp of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Casey (Matt) Petzoldt, Cody Kertz and Britney Bost.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Arlene Brueggeman and Glodine Perrine.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, with the Revs. Peter Ill and Mark Willig officiating. Interment will be Evergreen Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester.

Memorials may be to St. John's Debt Fund or St. John's Radio Fund.
