HIGH POINT – Our Granny, Virginia (Jenny) Smith Coggins became an angel on December 14th, 2011 at Hospice House at High Point.

She was born on August 16th, 1927 in Stokes County, a daughter to the late Oliver and Nannie Lankford Smith. A resident of this area most of her life, she retired from Belks where she was a sales associate in the men's department and was a member of Old Union United Methodist Church. Her church family always held a special place in her heart. She was married to Dewey W. Coggins Sr. who preceded her in death in 2003.

Surviving her are four children, Edward Coggins and wife Janet of Wallburg, Sandra Coggins Stutts of Randleman, Judy Beeson and husband Bill of Sophia and D.W. Coggins and wife Debbie of Trinity; four loving siblings, Reva Sledge of High Point, Lelia Tuttle of Germanton, Faye Smith of Stoneville and Franklin Smith of Kernersville; seven grandchildren, Brian Troxel, Melissa Beeson Brown, Bradley Coggins, Jenny Beeson Welborn, Chad Coggins, Jaime Coggins Glover and Jeremy Coggins; and nine great-grandchildren, Hannah Troxel, Kiersten and Carson Brown, Logyn and Lauren Welborn, Kaitlyn Kropelnicki, Taylor and Caleb Coggins and Chloe Grace Glover. Granny leaves behind many friends, caregivers and an adopted family that have been a special part of her life.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Old Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Auman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Memorials may be directed to Old Union United Methodist Church Paving Fund, 1754 Jackson Lake Rd.
