Antoine Campau served in the War of 1812 as a private in Godfroy's 1st Regiment of the Michigan Militia, serving at the Fort of Detroit. He was a brother of Louis Campau, who had the first trading post at what is now Grand Rapids. This memorial is dedicated to Antoine Campau in remembrance of his service to our country during the War of 1812, by the Michigan Society of U.S. Daughters of War of 1812.
