Tissington was a 1939 graduate of UMS and 1943 graduate of The Citadel. He was co-founder of Habitat for Humanity of Mobile and an organizer of the Presbytery of South Alabama's Mission Outreach to Merida, Mexico.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Brown Tissington of Mobile; one son, Arthur B. Tissington IV of Pensacola; two daughters, Martha T. Reed of Oakland, Calif., and Bligh T. Jones of Mobile; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at Government Street Presbyterian Church, with time to be announced. Memorials may be made the the church or a favorite charity
