JAMES R. BROCKETT, a Civil War Veteran, one of White Co's oldest residents. Son of Nathaniel and Emily Berry Brockett, born near Brownsville 19 October 1840-11 February 1936, 95y 3m 13d. Married 3 October 1867 to MARGARET R. BROWN, who preceded him in death several years ago. Four sons, two daughters: John, George, Dick, Pete, Mrs. Ollie White, and Miss Emma. Also leaves twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was one of seven children, four brothers and a sister having passed away years ago; B. I., Sam, Mrs. Emily Weirauch, all of Brownsville, survive him. Funeral services at West Union Church. Burial: West Union Cemetery.
