Steve William "Bill" Hasty, 86, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., born March 19, 1925, in Venice, Ill., passed away at 4:32 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla.

Bill graduated from Granite City High School in 1943. Throughout his early life, Bill was active in the Masonic Order and has been a member of Triple Lodge No. 835 for 57 years in Granite City. Bill proudly served his country with the United States Coast Guard Reserves and the with the United States Navy during World War II on the USS New Jersey. Bill was involved in real estate sales in the 1980's after retiring from Ford Motor Company. He loved his days of fishing and hunting and will be remembered for the love and special times spent with his family and especially his cherished grandchildren. Throughout his life, he has made a difference in the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Bonnie, nee Segasture, Hasty; and two brothers, James Hasty Jr., and Kenneth Hasty.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Marilyn, nee Harris, Hasty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonny and Jerry Wallace of Trinity, Fla., and Sandra and Charles A. Gregory of Wentzville, Mo.; two grandsons, Scott and Aaron Sortor of St. Louis, Mo.; four great grandchildren, Alexandra, Mitchell, Zachary and Caden Sortor of St. Louis, Mo.; and other extended family and friends.

Burial with military honors will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Steve William "Bill" Hasty, 86, of Tarpon Springs, Florida died Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Florida. He was born March 19, 1925 in Venice, Illinois, a son of the late James Thomas and Bonnie (Segasture) Hasty. Bill graduated from Granite City High School in 1943. Throughout his early life, Bill was active in Masonic Order and has been a member of Triple Lodge No. 835 in Granite City for 57 years.
