Delma Anne Allen of Hooks, TX passed away December 12, 2011 after a lengthy illness.

Anne was born December 30, 1937 in Texarkana, Ark and was a lifelong resident of Hooks, Texas.

She was a devoted wife and mother whose passion was her family and friends. Anne was retired from Day & Zimmerman Ammunition Plant and until her health deterred it, had found a new calling as a substitute teacher int he Hooks ISD. She especially loved the fact that many of the children in her classes were the children of some of her four daughters classmates from Hooks High School.

Anne was a member of the Ravishing Relics Red Hat Club. She was very active in collecting donations for the Texarkana Battered Women's shelter and organizing collecting care packages for troops overseas. Her generous and loving nature will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Allen, parents, Milton and Violet Hignight, sister,Patsy Ruth Sargeant and daughter Cindy Son.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Terri Medaries and husband, Dub of Shreveport, LA, Sharon Harrison and husband, Darrow of Wake village, Texas, and Sheila Brady and husband Scott of Great Falls, MT, also son-in-law, Danny Son of Dekalb, TX as well as Ken and Shirley Allen of Wake village, TX who held a special place in her heart as her own.

She also leaves behind brothers, Carl "Sonny" Hignight and wife, Betty of New Boston, TX, Harrell Hignight and wife, Kay of New Boston, TX, Danny Hignight of Texarkana, TX, Kenneth Hignight and wife, Tina of Wake Village, TX as well as brother and sister of the heart, Danny and Clyde Feagin of Dekalb, TX.

Anne was very proud of her 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family would like to request that donations be made in Anne's name to The Texarkana Battered Women's Shelter or the American Lung Association .

Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2011 at Everett Baptist Church, Hooks, TX with Rev. Jim Sherwin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2011 at East Funeral Home - Moor's Lane.
