Daniel Richart was the son of Rev. Ott Richart and Ott was the pastor of the Iva Zion Lutheran Church near Hemlock, Michigan for many years. Daniel's brother Paul was also the Pastor at the same church.

Daniel Herman Frederick Richert was born July 3, 1920
the son of the sainted Rev. Otto Richert and his wife, Hulda
Moeller Richert in Hemlock, Michigan.
He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church,
Hemlock. Daniel graduated from Concordia College Fort
Wayne, Indiana and completed his theological training at
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1945.
Pastor Richert accepted the call from Inmanuel Lutheran
Church, Wheeler, Michigan in the spring of 1945 and
served that congregation fourteen years. On February 1,
1959 Pastor Richert was installed as pastor of St. Paul
Lutheran Church, New Boston, Michigan. Since that time
he has been a faithful pastor and shepherd of St. Paul.
Pastor Richert married Ruth, the daughter of Reverend
and Mrs. Frederick Fisher on January 28, 1951. This
union was blessed with three children, Joel, a chemist;
Ruth, a Senior at Eastern Michigan University, and Sarah,
Freshman at Huron High School.
Pastor Richert served as Chaplain in the Michigan Army
National Guard from January, 1949 to Dec. 1968, retiring
with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Besides his very busy life as Pastor of St. Paul, he was
active in many community affairs and gave generously
of his time and energy. For the past ten years Pastor
Richert has been Huron Township's representative on
The Peoples Community Hospital Authority Broad. He
Has also served on Volunteer committees for the Huron
School District and gave this school system his enthusiastic
support.
We at St. Paul's will always remember Pastor Richert as an
inspiring preacher untiringly of himself. He faithfully visited
the sick and shut-in. He taught us God's word. He was friendly,
personable ambassador of Christ who gave God's word in it's
truth and purity. He had a beautiful relationship with his
parishioners who affectionately knew him as ‘Reverend Dan'
On September 4, 1977, Pastor Richert was suddenly called
by the Angel of Death to his eternal reward. The funeral
Service will be held at St. Paul, Wednesday, September 7,
at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Harold C. Bernthal will officiate and
his mortal remains are to repose in the Michigan Memorial
Park Cemetery awaiting the triumphal morn when both
body and soul will be united in God's mansion above.
In addition to his beloved wife and children, Pastor Richert
survived by his mother, Mrs Hulda Richert; a sister, Mrs.
Harold (Lois) Bernthal, of Winter Haven, Florida; and two
two brothers, Rev. Paul C. Richert, Monroe, Michigan,
Dr. Joseph J. Richert, New Boston, Michigan.
