OF 1001 PAYSON AVENUE
SATURDAY NIGHT --
WAS A WELL KNOWN
SOUTH SIDE CITIZEN.

H. Peter Bentrup died Saturday night at 8:30 o'clock at his home, 1001 Payson avenue, of dropsy and heart trouble. He had been ill for the past two years, but was confined to his home but a week.

H. Peter Bentrup was born in Germany April 23, 1844. He came to Quincy with his parents in 1865 and had been a resident of this city since. He was a tailor by trade, and was employed in that capacity until he was compelled to retire two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Bentrup had ten children, eight of whom are living.

The children are: Ernst Bentrup, of Eleventh street and Payson avenue; Herman Bentrup, of Danville; Mrs. Henry Stoermer, of 1104 Washington street; Mrs. George Meyer, of 1001 Payson avenue; August Bentrup, of St. Louis; Alfred and Misses Henrietta and Martha Bentrup, who are at home.

Besides his children, he leaves a widow; one sister Mrs. Hannah Siesonoph; three step-brothers: William of this city; August Altheide of Tioga; Henry Altheide of Streator Illinois; and one step-sister, Miss Jennie Stockman of Tioga, all of whom are here to be present at the funeral services.

Mr. Bentrup was a member of Salem Evangelical church, in which he was a prominent worker.

Mr. Bentrup was born in Minden, Kreis Herford, Westphalia, Germany, April 29, 1844, and had reached the age of 61 years, 9 months, and 18 days. He spent his youth in the old country and emigrated to America in 1866, coming directly to Quincy, where he had resided ever since. The following year he was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Sturhahn, who survives him.
