Obituary: Rensselaer Republican dated Tuesday, December 13, 2011
Russell K. Saltwell, 85, of Rensselaer passed away at the Rensselaer Care Center Sunday, December 11, 2011. Russell was born in Barkley Township, Jasper County, Indiana on September 21, 1926. He was the son of the late John G. and Ora Velma (Spriggs) Saltwell.
He was raised in Jasper County, attending both Fair Oaks High School and Wheatfield High School. On November 15, 1951, Russell joined the U.S. Marines where he attained the rank of Corporal. Russell returned to Jasper County and was a self employed farmer. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 in Rensselaer.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.... He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer, IN with Dr. James Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow at the Weston Cemetery with military graveside rites.
