Mortimer Critcher was the son of Anson & Tabitha Davis Critcher. He married Lula King Creekmore about 1887, and by 1900 they had 6 children, and were farming in Martin County, N.C. By 1910 the Critchers, with their 9 children, were farming in Lydia in Darlington County, S.C. By 1920 the Critchers were living in Mount Gilead in Montgomery County, N. C., where Mortimer worked as a meat merchant. By 1930 they were farming in Plowden Mills in Clarendon County, S. C. By the time of his death he was farming again in Darlington County. Mortimer died at the Mcleod Infirmary in Florence.
