LILLIE MAE VICKERY Mrs. Lillie Mae Vickery, 97, of Southport, Fla., celebrated her eternal homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 70 years, Robert L. "Buster" Vickery; two sons, Buford Vickery and Dr. Robert E. Vickery; two daughters, Viola Glass and Darnell Cox; and one granddaughter, Cindy Averett. Mrs. Vickery is survived by three daughters, Marie Beebe of Port Richey, Fla., Minnie Stukey and husband, Joe, of Lakeland, Fla., and Patty Jencks and husband, Larry, of Southport, Fla.; son, Woodrow Vickery and wife, Lou, of Southport, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Jack Cox. Mrs. Lillie Mae Vickery was a woman of strong faith who was blessed with a large family and many friends. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, quilting, and singing the praises of the Lord enjoyed by many neighbors of Southport. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious cakes and pies that were enjoyed by many. Her love and compassion in serving and loving her family and the community was felt by all. She was a beautiful woman who walked by the grace of God. Mrs. Lillie Mae Vickery always will be loved and missed by everyone. Please join us in celebrating her reunion with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel in Lynn Haven with the Rev. Alcus R. Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
