Edwin Guth (2 Jul 1891 – 25 Mar 1973)

Dorchester – Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem United Methodist Church in Dorchester for Edwin Guth, of Dorchester, who died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Medford. He was 81 years of age.

The Rev. Milton Petzold will officiate and burial will be made in the Dorchester Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester after 3 p.m. today (Tuesday) and at the church from noon until time of services on Wednesday.

Mr. Guth was born July 2, 1891, at Kewaskum in Washington County. He received his education in Marshfield schools and attended Valparaiso College for a year. In 1904, he moved with his parents to Clintonville and later to Marshfield, and in 1912, moved to the town of Mayville.

On May 29, 1915, at Salem United Methodist Church, he was married to the former Louise Meyer, who survives him. After their marriage, they operated the home farm until retirement in 1946. The couple then moved to Hortonville where they lived for 11 years, until returning to the Dorchester area in 1957. For the past two years, they have been living in the village of Dorchester.

The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1965.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Alvin Guth, Rice Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Verna) Gumz, Marshfield; a sister, Alma Bleck, Clintonville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and for 13 years served on the Hilltop School Board in the town of Mayville.
