WORLD WAR II
Walter Gentry Lampley of Fairview, 88, died at the Williamson County Hosptial on Wednesday, Nov. 30, after a short illness. A native of Williamson County, Mr. Lampley was the son of the late George Washington and Martha Hall Lampley. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are: sons, Curness Lampley, Milan, George Lampley, Chester, Va; sister, Mrs. Nettie Garton, Nashville; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
Services were conducted on Friday, Dec. 2, at the Fairview Chapel of Pettus, Owen & Wood with the Reverend John Lampley officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
World War I Naval veteran enrolled at Recruiting Station, Nashville, TN 2/14/18 at age 22 yrs 4 mos. Rate: Fireman 3 class served at Home awaiting orders from 2/14/18 to 3/25/18 Newport, RI from 3/25/18 to 7/27/18 to 11/11/18. Served as Fireman 3 Class for 137 days Fireman 2 Class for 133 days. Discharged 7/26/19 Recruiting Sta. Atlanta, GA Rating at discharge Fireman 3 Class
