Palatine Masons Pay Last Tribute To Charles V. Julian
The funeral of Chas. V. Julian, who died Oct. 11, was held at the home of his parents in Palatine Saturday afternoon. Rev. Bloomquist, pastor of the Palatine Methodist Episcopal church officiated, while member of Palatine Lodge No. 314 A. F. & A. M. gave the Masonic Funeral service.
Charles Vandegrift Julian, born June 9, 1889, at Palatine, Ill., died at Winnetka, Ill., Oct. 11, 1938, aged 44 years, 4 months, 2 days. Deceased attended grade school in Palatine, Ill., graduated from Shortridge high school, Indianapolis, and attended Wabash college. He was married to Katherine Wright June 30, 1911. Tho this union was born one son, Richard. Chas. Julian's delight was in newspaper work. He became assistant editor of the Moline Dispatch, was on the staff of the Chicago Tribune as a special writer, and won his reputation by his brilliant description of the return of the troops from Europe at the close of the World war. He became editor of the Stanolind Magazine of the Standard Oil Co. of Indiana, and was closely associated with Col. Steward, the president.
In Palatine, he was patron of the Eastern Star, helped organize the library and served in its board as the first president and was a member of the high school board, Democratic in spirit, quiet, modest, with brilliant mind, he leaves a host of friends.
