English Caldwell b. 1810 d. 1848 married Amelia Ann Rutherford b. 1814 d. 1882 of Loyston, TN on October 12, 1833 in Knox Co....
English was murdered at Graveston cross roads by persons unknown in 1848. Both are buried at Texas Valley Baptist Church on Texas Valley Road, just inside Union County. Amelia's grave is marked with a nice marble head stone. English is buried next to her but the grave is unmarked. The pastor at the time was Hugh Caldwell a half brother to English.
English was bushwhacked while crossing a field near the old Graveston Distillery along Bull Run Creek. He was most likely killed to silence his testimony that was to be made the following day in court. He had witnessed an illegal gambling game on a Sunday which was a very bad event. He left Amelia with 8 children one of which was less than a year old. Amelia had one brother that still lived in the area and an aged Indian fighter father. English left a host of brothers sisters and other related people. (From ancestry.com site from relative; Mark Caldwell.)
