Funeral Today for Native Wasecan, Mrs. N. P. Dewey
Funeral services for Mrs. N. P. Dewey, 72, who died Tuesday evening at her home at 601 3rd St. N.E., where held today (Friday) at the Methodist Episcopal church at 3 p.m. Conducting the service was the Reverend G. E. Martin and the Rev. Hillis B. Slaymaker. A service for the family was held at Peterson’s Funeral chapel at 10 a.m. Mrs. Dewey had been ill about three months and the cause of death was cancer.
The former Clara Lydia Lindemer was born at Oak Ridge, Minn., October 29, 1885, the daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth Zeiman Lindemer. She attended schools at Elgin, Minn., and on December 19, 1906, was married at Rochester to Napoleon P. Dewey of Brookings, S. D. They moved to Waseca county 43 years ago after living in Brookings and Elgin, Minn. On December 19, 1956, the Deweys celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include her husband, a former Waseca alderman and contractor; two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Vera) Washer, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Don (Gladys) Twisselman, Waseca; one son, Lawrence M., Austin; and five grandsons, John and George Dewey, Austin, and James Alan and Roger Twisselman, Waseca. Mrs. Dewey was the last of a family of eight; two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
Casket bearers were John Brown, Dan Hughes, George Engel, Herbert Polsfuss, F. F. Van Loon and Max Maidl.
Peterson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
