Chase M. Altland, 21, died suddenly on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Chase was born in York on April 12, 1990. He graduated from Spring Grove High School Class of 2008 and in 2009 he graduated from the Divers Academy International as a Certified Commercial Diver. He worked for Renaissance Construction as a framer for the past 2 years. He was a social member of the Allen J. Beck VFW post # 5265 in Spring Grove and the Spring Grove Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, four wheeling and wood carving. He is survived by his loving parents, Drue N. Altland and Melissa M. (Thoman) Altland; his brother, Cole J. Altland; his sister, Tuesday E. Altland; his paternal grandparents, Harry and Deborah Altland; and his maternal grandparents, Judy and Charles Angel & Sally and Charles Thoman. He is also survived by his paternal great-grandmother, Gladys Altland; his maternal great-grandparents, Clyde P. Hilker and DeEtta Shue; and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. He was predeceased by his uncle, Bryan Scott Thoman; his great-grandparents, Amos Altland, William and Mabel Thoman, Nadine & Joseph Little, Charles & Anna Angel and Richard & Eva Stoner. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ United Church of Christ, 32 Baltimore St., Jefferson, with Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Jefferson Cemetery.
