My maternal grandfather William Albert Rash was the son of Andrew Jackson Rash of Drew County, Arkansas and Alice House of Mississippi. Andrew and Alice were married on 4 July 1882 in Drew County. William was born on 2 June 1883 in Drew County, Arkansas. He died on the 25th of May 1948 in Chicot County, Arkansas.

William first married Ollie Mae Moss and they had one child Willie Mae Rash (my Aunt Day) born in 1905. Ollie Mae Moss died in 1909. William then married my grandmother Margaret Bobbitt on 5 November 1910.

Margaret was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Bobbitt of Pike County, Alabama and Lucinda (Lula) Locklear of Cherokee County, Alabama.

They had two children--first my mother Alice Lorena (Sue) Rash, who was born on 3 December 1913 in Dermott and passed away on 20 October 1988 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Sue married my father, Winford Hugh Moseley of Warren, Arkansas on 16 February 1935 in Dermott, Arkansas. Winford was the son of Watt and Myrtle Sanderlin Moseley of Warren.

William and Margaret also had a son Ralph Lamar Rash who was born 17 September 1919 in Dermott and died on 6 June 1993 in Dumas, Arkansas. He married Patricia(Aunt Chee)Lagrone daughter of J.C. Lagrone of Dumas, Arkansas.

I never met my grandfather--he died two months before I was born. I know that he worked hard all of his life and was well respected in Dermott. He was in the wholesale grocery business. He was greatly loved by his children. I know that he had an easy going temperament or he could not survive living with my Grandmother Margaret. My mother and uncle often spoke of his patience and sense of humor. These were great attributes for anyone that came into contact with my Grandmother.

May you rest in peace Grandpa Will.
