Olie Melvin Abbott, 70 years of age, of Pulaski County, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, November 3rd, 1994 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Melvin was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on January 23rd, 1924, son of the late Arthur and Ella Francis Carender Abbott. Melvin was a retired salesman for Lay-Simpson Furniture Company for 35 years, a United States Army veteran of World War II, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and a member of the American Legion Post No#38.
Melvin was survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marie Dick Abbott, whom he married in Somerset, Kentucky on September 11th, 1950; one daughter, Deborah Abbott of Cape Coral, Florida; one brother, Roy L. Abbott of Somerset, Kentucky; two sisters, Eva McKinney of Somerset, Kentucky and Lexie Muffett of Glasgow, Kentucky; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Abbott and Ella Francis Abbott; two brothers, Arthur Abbott and George Raymond Abbott; and one sister, Maggie Gallagher.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th, 1994 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Davis H. King officiating.
Burial followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens with military services conducted by the American Legion Post No#38.
