Martha J. Armstrong, 87, of Rockwood, passed on July 20, 2010, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 6, 1923, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, she is the daughter of the late Wilson and Rachel (Geary) Pyle. She is also preceded in death by her husband Walter P. Armstrong; son Curtis Armstrong; brother John Pyle; and sisters Mary O'Brien, Edna Pyle, Lena Hillegass, Bertha Miller, Nellie Miller, and Ruby Resh. She is survived by her children Robert Armstrong and wife Emma Jean of Rockwood, David Armstrong and wife Bonita of Markleton, Deborah Stahl and husband David of Somerset, Dennis Armstrong and wife Jackie of Rockwood, Rachel Armstrong of Rockwood, and Nancy Bruner and husband James of Friedens; grandson Daniel Armstrong and wife Amanda of Anchorage, Ala., among 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Martha was a retired employee of Princess Anne of Delaware in New Centerville and the Bender Shoe Co in Somerset. She was fond of crocheting and going for car rides. She loved babies, especially her grandchildren. Martha lived her life thinking of others and helping them until her death. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Pastor Scott Zediker officiating.
