Cecilia Marie Gooding, 92, of Wilder, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at a Homedale care center. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 20, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caldwell. Reverend Oscar Jaramillo did officiate. An interment followed in Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Cecilia was born March 7, 1910 at Mt. Angel, Oregon, a daughter of Frank and Josephine Walker Kirsch. She went to high school at St. Paul, Oregon and was an outstanding basketball player. She graduated in 1928. She married John R. Gooding on October 6, 1929 at San Francisco, California; they lived in California a couple years then moved back to St. Paul in 1933 where they farmed. In 1945 they moved near Wilder where they grew hops.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church and a very devoted wife and mother. She always enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's athletic events.
She is survived by three sons, Fred and Frances Gooding of Wilder; Tom and Charlotte Gooding of Meridian; and Ted and Sally Gooding of Golden, Colo.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley in 1960 and her husband in 1977.
