Edna was born September 19, 1914 in Shannon County, South Dakota to Oliver and Betty (Gillespie) Swallow. She attended school in Shannon County, SD and Santee, SD. She then stayed on her family ranch until she married Stanley Serry on December 20, 1933 in Custer, SD then moved to Chadron, NB. She stayed there while her husband was in the military before returning to Shannon County, SD in 1948. In 1950 they bought a restaurant in Oelrichs, SD and ran that for 5 years. Edna then lived in Hot Springs, SD until moving to Prineville, OR in August 2011.
Edna enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, playing piano, hiking and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, VFW, Gray Ladies and Quilt Club.
Edna is survived by her son Patrick (Jane) Serry of Prineville, OR; daughter Mona Weaver of Jacksonville, OR; sister Josephine Hamilton of Oelrichs, SD; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley Serry, 7 brothers and sisters and one grandson.
