"W J Spence, the father of this Spence family, came to his death by drowning in Stue Skie Pond Lake, Valesco Texas, Brazoria County, April 8, 1907. He was embalmed by J. C. Frederich of Velasco Texas. He was carried by Rail Road to Lawrence Texas, Kaufman County, and buried beside Fowler Spence, son of David Henry Spence. His son Henry Spence took care of the arrangements."
