OBITUARY: MARY ELIZABETH BUTLER
Mary Elizabeth Butler, 83, formerly of Oak Valley, Kansas passed away Monday, December 08, 2003 at the Life Care Center in Osawatomie, Kansas.
Mary was born October 27, 1920 in St. Joseph, Missouri to James Edward and Ruth Elizabeth (Arnold) McLaughlin. She married Willard "Pat" Butler on January 27, 1941 in Independence, Kansas. Mr. Butler preceded her in death in 1976. Mary was a homemaker.
Mary is survived by six sons, Melvin McLaughlin and his wife, Florence of Wellsville, Kansas, Raymond Joe McLaughlin and his wife, Dee of Cherryvale, Kansas, Clinton Butler of Independence, Kansas, David Butler of Independence, Kansas, Charlie Butler and his wife Pam of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Bob Butler, address unknown; four daughters, Corene Shepard of Portland, Oregon, Alice French and her husband, Melvin of Granger, Texas, Rosemary Butler of Independence, Kansas, and Joan Butler and her husband, Richard of Independence, Kansas.; one brother, Lawrence McLaughlin of Independence, Kansas; thirty one grandchildren; and thirty eight great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Dwight Butler and one daughter, Coleen Ashenfelter.
Visitation hours for Mary will be held Monday, December 15, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home, Independence, Kansas.
Graveside services for Mary Elizabeth Butler will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Havana City Cemetery, Havana, Kansas with the Reverend Keith Springer of the Highland Park Baptist Church officiating.
The family has suggested a memorial contribution to the St. Jude's Children Hospital. Memorials may be left with the funeral home.
