George Fredrick Bierig, 72 years old, 608 North Maiden Lane, died at 3:20 o'clock Saturday afternoon in St. John's Hospital. He was taken to the hospital at noon Saturday after he suffered a stroke at his home.
Mr. Bierig was born April 27, 1889, in Joplin. He was an actor on the New York and Chicago stages for many years. Later, he operated resorts in the Branson area. He returned in 1940 to Joplin to make his home. He was a veteran of Work War I and a member of the Lutheran church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Earleene Bierig, of the home; two brothers, Carl W. Bierig, 919 West Third Street and Herry Bierig of Denver, CO; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Stanfield, 517 Forest Avenue and Mrs. Elizabeth Eicher, Canton, Ohio.
Arrangements will be announced by Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
