Daughter of Verne H. Winchell, Vice President, Winchell Donuts, and sister of Verne H. Winchell, Jr., Founder, Winchell Donuts, who, after a share swap between Winchell Donuts and Denny's Restaurants, later became Chairman of Denny's Restaurants.
Barbara graduated from Alhambra High School in 1943 and went on to study at Pasadena City College.
Married Robert W. Ogden, of La Canada, at San Gabriel Methodist Chapel, in 1979. It was the 2nd marriage for each of them. They celebrated their 31st Anniversary in April, 2010. Sadly, Robert passed away four months after Barbara.
Her only son by birth, Brent R. Vanwert, preceded Barbara in death at the age of 37, in December, 1990.
Surviving is her daughter-in-law Maria Ellena VanWert; three grandchildren, Michael, Kevin and Kimberly; two great-grandchildren, Juliana and Clark; one sister, Eloise Winchell Wills; and stepsons, Richard and Ronald VanWert.
Preceded in death by father, Verne H. Winchell, Sr.; mother, Marie Stautz; and brothers, Verne H. Winchell Jr. and Robert Winchell.
Service was held Wednesday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m., Memorial Chapel, Gate 1, at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, California.
