John Wesley Dykes
Funeral services for John Wesley Dykes will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery Funeral Home of Elk City.
John Wesley was born April 19, 1906 in Hammon(sic) to Newt and Almeda (Thomas) Dykes and died Friday at the age of 98. He was raised in the Hammon and Herring Communities. He married Gladys Thomas(sic) on October 9, 1929. They made their home in the Hammon area until 1955 when they moved to Elk City where he has lived since. He spent most of his life in the construction business.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers; four sisters; one grandson.
Survivors include two children, Susie Reid and her husband Darrell and Kendred Dykes and his wife Karen all of Elk City; one sister, Odessa Benn of Elk City; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
