The newest data states she could be the daughter of Aaron Fairchild, who was born between 1755 and 1774 in New Jersey and moved to Washington County, VA. and then to Charleston, SC., where he married a woman named Ann. He died in Charleston in October 1809. Perhaps after his death, Ann remarried to Mr. Barwick and Martha became his step-daughter or even an adopted daughter. Martha's obituary states she had a half brother named W. B. Barwick.
