Edward Nanney, 81, of the Buckingham Road, Greeneville, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

He had worked in construction and plaster work.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U. S. Army and recipient of a Purple Heart Medal.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Minnie Harrison Nanney; three daughters and sons-in-law: Gail and Kenny Wilder of Limestone; Sondra and Terry Chandley, Brenda and Teddy Sheffey, all of Greeneville; grandchildren: Rachell and Thomas Ripley of Afton, Edward and Jessica Chandley, Steven Chandley, April Brown, all of Greeneville, Katrina Wilder of Limestone;
great grandchildren: Jasmine Harmon, Alexus Chandley, and Kaylee Brown; a sister: Ivah Kate Henry of Mosheim; one brother and sister-in-law: Rex and Sondra Nanney of Lenoir City; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Shirley Nanney of Tusculum; Susie Gilbert, Sandra Riddle, Kathy Hensley, all of Illinois; Vernia Wise of Ohio; Haskell Harrison of Greenville; Ruby Kate Johnson of Mosheim; Willis Harrison of Baileyton; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Victor Fezell of Morristown

He was the son of the late Hunter and Wilma Davis Nanney and was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Smith and Dorothy Stanton; a brother, Leroy Nanney.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in the Kiser Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Jim Fain officiating. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Richie Henry, Randy Henry, Donnie Stanton, Mike Stanton, Jamie Nanney, Jackie Nanney, Hunter Henry, and James Myers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Stanton, Edward Chandley, Steven Chandley, Thomas Ripley, Larry Carrier, and Blaine Crum.

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home. The Greeneville – Greene County Honor Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
